ChildLight Yoga Teacher Training
July 24 – 25th, 2010
Saturday, 9 am – 6:30 pm; Sunday, 9 am – 4:30 pm
Are you seeking to incorporate yoga into your current work with children or looking to teach yoga to children as a career? This – training will give you the tools you need to get started! The program is open to yoga teachers and yoga students who love children and want to share the joys of yoga with them: educators, phys ed teachers, family counselors, social workers, occupational therapists, physical therapists, camp counselors, recreation directors, and many others! Program will focus on children ages 3 – 11 years old.
2-day training will cover:
- Breathing exercises & child-friendly yoga poses
- Relaxation techniques & visualizations
- Creating and using themes/stories/games
- Teaching different age groups
- Partner and group poses
- Kid-friendly songs and chants
- Class setting adaptations/considerations
- Lesson planning/sequencing
- Tips for improvising
- Adaptations for special group needs
Program cost is: $345 before 3/1/10 ($365 after 3/1/10) and includes 14 contact hours, fully-illustrated manual and a CD of yoga songs for children.
2-day Advanced Training
Yoga 4 Classrooms
July 26-27th, 2010
This 2-day advanced training is open to anyone who has completed ChildLight Yoga’s 2-day basic training AND has experience teaching yoga to children (see above). Instructors who seek to build and strengthen their skills for teaching yoga and yoga-related concepts to children will delve deeper into their techniques for teaching while learning some new activities as well. An environment of sharing, networking, and constructive critique and support will facilitate further growth and improved teaching skills. During the first day, our time together will focus on practice teaching, sharing and group discussions. In addition, we will discuss working with specific groups such as special needs children and middle schoolers. A further discussion of yoga philosophy for children, as well as mandala work and an intro to the chakra system will round out the day. The second day will focus on Yoga 4 Classrooms for Instructors. Attendees will learn the Y4C program and how to share it within the classroom environment. Those who achieve Basic & Advanced certification in the ChildLight Yoga program will also be on the path to become obtain certification to facilitate Yoga 4 Classrooms public and private (at schools/staff development) seminars, if they so choose.
